Project: New Construction

The County needed to expand from its existing, cramped location in the old County Courthouse in Ann Arbor. At the same time, they wanted to consolidate publicly accessed departments in a single facility, bringing them next to an existing County Administration Facility. It was decided to construct a new building on Main Street, Ann Arbor to house the Clerk, Register of Deeds and the County Prosecutor's offices previously located in the Courthouse. In addition, the County Treasurer and Equalization offices were moved from other locations to bring all Public Service together.
The new facility anchors the ‘Public Face’ of the County and completes the County campus. The building’s facade is a compliment to its surroundings while an interior atrium provides airy circulation to the County’s many Services.
Vertical circulation is enhanced by a 3-Story Atrium connecting all Public Service Departments. This Atrium is highlighted in the facade and provides a night-time beacon on Main Street.
